Church History
Evangel Temple had its beginning as the “Pentecostal Foursquare Church” in March 1945. Five years later the church was changed to Murray Hill Assembly of God. In 1959 the congregation purchased property and built the new facilities which is now the Ministry Building. In October 1964, Pastor Cecil Wiggins accepted the position as the lead Pastor.
In the spring of 1980, Pastor Cecil along with his son, Garry Wiggins as associate pastor, was able to complete construction and move into a New Sanctuary, which is now the Chapel and Children’s Church. Three years later the construction of the Sunday School Building and fellowship hall was completed, and three years after that the Family Life Center was built.
In January 1999, Evangel Temple embarked on its largest project and took its largest step of faith to date. Construction on the current 3200 seat sanctuary began, and just over a year later in April 2000, we had the Grand Opening of our current sanctuary.
